This is an excellent opportunity for the college community and I am glad to show my support in whatever way I can. This program is truly a blessing.
I am definitely planning to be a part of the fall program; I first became involved with this program in the summer and it was a really nice experience. Through the advice of spokespersons, I was able to focus my own career goals towards a realistic future. The Microsoft Stem Program is also great for college advice and mentoring, in addition to working with wonderful people like the Microsoft staff from Perimeter Mall!
Elaine Bryan has merged personality testing with academia to produce a tool that will ensure a student selects the correct educational road for their future. Most people only know of one route to take, what they were told to take or the one they "think" they should take. Planning for the rest of your life is difficult why not find the best team out there to help you make the most informed and comprehensive decision.
It has been an absolute pleasure of mine to have Dr. Elaine Bryan as a counselor and mentor. Since we both have a Jamaican background, it has been easy for her to connect with my family and I which effectively made her part of my family. She has always stressed the importance of working hard and doing what it takes to reach my goals. In 2006, she encouraged me to enter the Blacks at Microsoft Essay Contest. Writing is not my strongest skill, however, I did not want to waste the opportunity presented to me. Dr. Bryan made sure I completed the essay and turned it in on time. At the venue, where the essay contest winners were announced, I was able to learn a great deal about the Microsoft company as well as the types of people that make it possible for it to function. To my great surprise, I was announced as the winner of the contest and received a laptop in addition to other Microsoft paraphernalia. I was later featured in the Rolling Out magazine because of this achievement. I really appreciate the guidance and advice that I have received from Dr. Bryan over the years. I can not thank her enough for believing in me and giving me the extra little "push" I needed to be the best person I could possibly be.
